Project: Holiday Inspiration

Holiday Inspiration is always a good start to making the holidays your own… These are ideas that a few of my clients have had the last few years and my own. WE ARE ALWAYS CHANGING THIS POST FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND I WILL BE BLOGGING ABOUT IT, so check back often!

One thing that I always start with in my designs in architecture and the holidays is a CONCEPT.

In California and Arizona, the climate is conducive to enjoying most holidays outdoors and we typically celebrate with a table set with natural items like leaves and branches and flowers from our yard or park that can be thrown in the compost afterwards and washable table linens and dishes and glassware and silverware and taper candles (if you need to buy someone candles, try giving unscented tapers instead!).

We have the Winter Holiday (I celebrate Christmas) indoors but my theme for then always starts with a palette of colors (just like when we are selecting interior colors and finishes for a project). and transitions into the new year with minimal changes.

PHOTO 5: This year I will be using four main colors from the Sherwin Williams Colormix 2024 “Anthology” and I conveniently matched three of the colors with my existing velvet pillows (I am always resourceful!!!!) “Evergreen Fog”, “Stardew”, “Peppercorn” (which is also the exterior paint color for my house addition and added a dark red “Carnelian” for a different take on “red and green” but you can always add lighter red shades to mix it up.,
