Michele has been practicing Architecture with her own firm, Michele Grace Hottel, Architect since 1994. Prior to that she was a consultant with other Architecture and Engineering firms in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas before. during and after attending Cal Poly, Pomona for Architecture and the University of Copenhagen DIS.

As well as running her practice, Michele is also involved in the professional and local and national community on the AIA CRAN (Custom Residential Architects Network) National Advisory Group, the Chair of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Chair of the Custom Residential Architecture Network (CRAN) for the AIA San Diego and Palomar Chapters and a Commissioner and Subject Matter Expert for the California Architects Board. She was the Chair of the Committee for AIA California's Inaugural Housing Forum for attainable housing.

She a past City of La Mesa Planning Commissioner for three terms, was on the Board and Past President of the La Mesa Arts Alliance, served as a La Mesa Parks and Recreation Board Member, a La Mesa Centennial Planning Committee member and lead the Centennial Legacy Project Subcommittee.
